Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Georgian wall cupboards were produced during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, designed primarily for utilitarian storage in country houses and townhouses. They typically feature clean geometric lines, recessed fielded panels, and compact wall-mounted silhouettes.

These cupboards were predominantly crafted using local hardwoods such as oak and fruitwood, or softwoods like pine. Construction relied on traditional mortise and tenon joinery, hand-cut dovetails, and hand-planed timber backboards.

Authentic pieces demonstrate hand-saw marks on unseen surfaces, irregular hand-forged nails or iron hinges, and natural timber shrinkage across door panels. Original brass keyhole escutcheons and uneven surface patina also indicate historical authenticity.

Mount the cabinet on a neutral backdrop in a hallway, kitchen, or cloakroom to provide functional storage with historical depth. Combining the warm timber tone with modern ceramic accents or understated greenery creates a balanced contrast.

Preserve the natural timber surface by applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cloth. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent wood warping or splitting.
