Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Edwardian bedside cabinets dates from 1910 and follows a French Chateau style. Each piece uses pale oak with a warm brown timber colour and features a square marble top above a single drawer and a left-hand opening cupboard. The cabinet doors display floral carved garlands and carved roundels at the corners, complemented by moulded trim around the bottom edge. Oak panelled sides and rear allow polished display all round, supported on slim fluted turned legs at the front and rear. Small round drawer pulls and door handles complete the hardware. Each cabinet measures 80 cm high, 40.5 cm wide, and 40.5 cm deep. These bedside cabinets suit placement in a traditional bedroom as matching nightstands flanking a bed, providing surface space for lamps and bedside storage within easy reach.

FAQs

Bedside cabinets from the early 20th century frequently combined classical French Neoclassical elements, such as fluted legs and carved garlands, with sturdy construction techniques. These pieces often featured upper drawers above single cupboards, topped with marble slabs.

Cabinets from this era were primarily constructed using hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. Marble was commonly selected for the top surfaces to protect the timber underneath from moisture and heat.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved decorative motifs, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, and original solid marble tops that fit precisely into the timber framework. Signs of age on the timber and hardware further indicate original manufacture.

A pair of antique oak cabinets can be placed on either side of a contemporary bed to introduce texture and historical character. Pairing them with contemporary lighting or modern linen creates a balanced contrast between old and new.

Clean the oak surfaces using a soft cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically along the grain. Marble tops require neutral pH cleaners to avoid etching, and liquid spills should be wiped away immediately.
