Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A serpentine front chest features a double-curved fascia that is convex in the centre and concave towards the sides. Popularised during the 18th century in Georgian cabinetmaking, this complex curved silhouette requires precise craftsmanship to create smooth drawer operation and elegant proportions.

Georgian mahogany furniture typically features solid or veneered timber sourced from the West Indies or South America, dovetailed drawer joints, and crossbanded borders. The decorative surfaces often utilise flame or burr veneers alongside brass drop or ring handles and hand-cut wooden drawer linings.

Authentic Georgian and Georgian-style cabinetry can be identified by examining the drawer construction, such as hand-cut dovetails and solid timber drawer bottoms, as well as period-correct hardware like brass pull rings. Secondary woods such as pine or oak were often used internally, while the exterior displays high-grade mahogany veneers and crossbanding.

Position a matching pair on either side of a bed upholstered in neutral linen to balance the dark timber tones. Top each chest with understated ceramic or glass lamps and simple decorative items to contrast the rich wood grain and traditional brass hardware without cluttering the surface.

Maintain polished mahogany by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the luster. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from warping or the finish from fading.
