Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian double stool is a wide upholstered seating piece designed during the nineteenth century, intended to accommodate two people or serve as an expansive footrest. These items typically feature shaped timber legs, such as cabriole or sabre forms, alongside padded tops bordered by decorative studding.

Frames were primarily constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut due to their strength and grain quality. Upholstery foundations historically utilized webbing, horsehair padding, and natural fibre fabrics, secured with individual metal tacks or decorative brass studs.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-carved details, traditional corner block joinery, and natural age-related patination on the timber. Inspecting the underside often reveals historical tack holes from previous reupholstery and hand-cut frame construction rather than modern machine staples.

A double stool functions effectively positioned at the foot of a bed, placed within a bay window alcove, or utilized as an alternative coffee table when paired with a central serving tray. The tailored proportions complement both period settings and contemporary room schemes.

Maintain the timber legs by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the finish. For the upholstery, vacuum regularly using a low-suction fabric attachment and address spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth without rubbing.
