We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian scent bottles often feature ornate sterling silver repousse or chased caps paired with intricate glass bodies, reflecting the high craftsmanship and personal luxury of the late nineteenth century.

They were typically constructed using blown glass, such as Nailsea-type looped glass, combined with hallmarked sterling silver caps crafted by silversmiths using stamping, chasing, and repousse methods.

Authenticity is usually confirmed by examining the hallmarks on the silver cap for the makers mark, assay office, and date letter, alongside assessing the wear patterns and traditional glass manufacturing techniques of the period.

An antique scent bottle can be displayed on a vanity tray, mantelpiece, or open shelving unit to introduce a touch of period charm and reflective colour to contemporary spaces.

Preservation involves keeping the piece away from direct sunlight, cleaning the glass gently with a soft dry cloth, and avoiding harsh chemical polishes on the silver cap to protect the original finish and hallmarks.
