Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Welsh press cupboard, or cwpwrdd press, is a traditional two-section storage piece originating from Wales, typically dating from the eighteenth or early nineteenth century. It combines an upper cupboard section with enclosed shelving and a lower chest section fitted with drawers.

These cupboards were predominantly constructed from native English and Welsh oak, using traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-planed panels, and peg construction. Drawer linings were frequently made from pine or oak with hand-dovetailed corners.

Authentic pieces feature period construction hallmarks, including hand-cut dovetails, original pine or oak backboards held by rosehead nails, field-panelled doors, and natural shrinkage or patina along the timber grain.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway, dining space, or bedroom to introduce visual warmth and grounding contrast against neutral, contemporary walls. It functions effectively as a larder, linen repository, or general storage unit.

Maintain oak furniture by dusting regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Avoid placing the cupboard near direct heat sources, radiators, or damp walls to prevent wood shrinkage and split panels.
