In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Spill vases were popular household items during the nineteenth century designed to hold spillsthin wood shavings or rolled paper spills used to transfer fire from a hearth to candles or pipes. Staffordshire potteries produced these functional decorative items in vast quantities, often featuring pastoral, animal, or folk themes.

These ceramic figures were typically made from press-moulded earthenware, coated in a white glaze, and decorated by hand with overglaze enamels. The rear trunk or column served as the functional receptacle for spills, while the front was sculpted and painted.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces generally feature unglazed or flat-backed bases, small release holes from moulding, hand-applied enamel paint details, and fine age-related crazing in the glaze. Most original Staffordshire earthenware pieces were unstamped and unmarked.

A pair of spill vases works best symmetrically placed on a fireplace mantelpiece, windowsill, or rustic console table. They complement English country, farmhouse, or eclectic maximalist interior arrangements alongside traditional pottery and timber accents.

Clean earthenware ceramic items using a soft, dry cloth or gentle soft-bristled brush to remove dust. Avoid immersing porous ceramics in water or using harsh chemical cleaners, as water can seep through crazed glaze lines and cause internal damage.
