Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Apothecary and chemist bottles were designed to store dry powders, chemical salts, tinctures, and liquid compounds in pharmacies. The glass construction prevented reactive substances from corroding the vessel, while fitted stoppers preserved contents from moisture and air exposure.

Most 19th- and early 20th-century apothecary bottles were free-blown or mouth-blown into moulds, resulting in natural variations in glass thickness and air bubbles. Ground glass stoppers were individually ground and fitted directly to the bottle neck to create an airtight seal.

Authentic period examples often display hand-applied paper, glass, or gilded Latin labels, pontil marks or mould lines, and custom-fitted ground glass stoppers. Slight glass imperfections, asymmetry, and honest oxidisation to gold leaf detailing further indicate age.

Grouped in odd numbers, these glass vessels add architectural interest to bookshelves, window sills, or bathroom counters. They pair exceptionally well with dark wood cabinetry, brass accents, and curio displays in modern academic or eclectic spaces.

Clean the glass interior with warm water and mild soap using a soft brush, ensuring stoppers are handled carefully. Avoid submerging paper or gilt labels in water, wiping them gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to prevent lifting or flaking.
