Chave Taunton, Fusee Drop Dial Wall Clock

An early Victorian fusee drop dial wall clock. A 12'' painted dial signed ''Chave Taunton'' with moon blued steel hands. A good quality rosewood case with choice veneers. Mother of pearl inlaid case. A brass bezel surround. Side carvings to the base with a pendulum window.
 
An 8-day duration fusee timepiece mechanism. Circa 1845.
 
Samuel Chave of Taunton is recorded in A J Moores ''Clockmakers of Somerset'' book as working at 11, High Street Taunton from 1843-1852.
