An exceptional 18th-century red colour twist ale glass, dating to circa 1765. It features a long waisted round funnel bowl, beautifully engraved with hop and barley in saltire.
Historical Context
Another exceptionally rare glass. Colour twists are among the most sought-after forms by collectors and, while they account for only a small percentage of surviving 18th century wine glasses and can still be found within the marketplace, a colour twist ale glass is an entirely different proposition. In comparative terms, very few examples survive. This particular glass is further distinguished by its engraving and rare waisted bell bowl form, elevating it into the exceptional category.
