Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Northern European walnut armoire is a freestanding two-door storage cupboard constructed during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, primarily in regions such as Germany, Austria, and Scandinavia. These pieces were built for housing textiles, linens, or garments, often showcasing decorative figured or burr walnut veneers across the door panels.

These cupboards are typically constructed with a solid softwood or hardwood carcase, such as pine or oak, overlaid with cut figured walnut or burr walnut veneers. Construction features traditional hand-cut dovetail joints, tongue-and-groove backboards, hand-forged iron or brass lock mechanisms, and carved moulding details.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of traditional woodworking, including hand-planed interior surfaces, uneven hand-sawn timber marks on unexposed areas, and original lock plates with corresponding keyholes. The veneer will display micro-crazing and natural patination consistent with age.

A walnut armoire serves as a statement storage piece in an entryway for coats and shoes, in a dining room as a drinks cabinet, or in a bedroom as a wardrobe. Its natural wood grain complements minimalist palettes, adding warmth and visual structure to modern spaces.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, rubbing gently along the direction of the timber grain, and keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, or fluctuating humidity levels to protect the veneer.
