A 19th century carved oak coffer in the 17th century manner, of good traditional form and attractive decorative character. The front is profusely carved with geometric and foliate panels, typical of Jacobean revival furniture. The hinged lid opens to a generous storage interior, making this a practical as well as decorative piece. Raised on stile feet, the coffer has good weight and presence and would work well as a blanket chest or hall piece.
