Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This seventeenth-century French coffer belongs to the Jacobean style, fashioned from dark brown oak. The rectangular top rests above a panelled front displaying intricate geometric carved panels, enhanced by applied split baluster mouldings and an original lock fitted with a key and a hanging golden tassel. Turned bun feet support the base, while the timber surface shows visible grain texture and aged wear consistent with its age. Practical storage meets timeless English Country House aesthetics in this piece. Measuring 66 cm high, 127 cm wide and 53 cm deep, it provides versatile storage space for blankets, linens or keepsakes. Position this coffer in a hallway, at the foot of a bed in a master bedroom, or against a living room wall to add traditional character to daily interiors.

An antique oak coffer is a heavy wooden storage chest with a hinged lid, historically used in European homes from the medieval period through the 17th century to store linens, textiles, and household valuables.

Traditional oak coffers feature frame-and-panel construction using solid oak, joined together with mortise and tenon joints secured by wooden pegs rather than metal nails.

Authentic pieces display evidence of hand-planed timber, irregular iron strap hinges, hand-carved geometric or botanical motifs, and natural wood shrinkage along structural joint lines.

A carved oak coffer functions effectively as a grounding focal point at the foot of a bed, as entryway bench storage, or as a textured coffee table in a modern living space.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the patina, avoiding exposure to central heating sources or high humidity.
