An elegant Chinese porcelain vase decorated in famille-rose enamels with scenes celebrating longevity. One side depicts the Daoist immortal Magu accompanied by a deer and a youthful attendant. In Chinese symbolism the deer represents longevity and success in official life.The composition belongs to the traditional Magu xianshou theme — “Magu Celebrating Longevity”. The reverse presents Shoulao, the god of longevity, shown with his characteristic high forehead, long beard, staff and peach of immortality. Beside him stands a dignified male figure in formal dress holding a ceremonial staff, while behind them a female attendant carries a ceremonial banner pole.
