The case is of outstanding craftsmanship designed to showcase both the artistry of the cabinet maker and the sophistication of the movement within.The beautifully detailed dial features a silvered chapter ring with gilt engraved centre, subsidiary seconds dial and chime selection, surmounted by a rolling moonphase in the arch. The movement is of particularly high quality striking and chiming on a full set of nine tubular bells offering both Westminster and Whittington chimes. The sound produced is deep and resonant far richer than standard bell striking clocks.Fitted with a mercury pendulum the clock was designed for greater accuracy, compensating for temperature changes and reflecting the technical advancements of the late 19th century.
