This is a scarce Georgian, English, wrythen-moulded flammiform dwarf ale glass with a folded foot dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1770.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the upper rim. The bowl is wrythen-moulded with a second gather of glass that reaches up to within two centimetres of the upper rim and has a flammiform fringe. The bowl sits on a knopped stem and a conical, folded foot which measures 6.7 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter. The glass is 12.3 cm (4.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It is made from lead metal weighing 125 g. (~ 4 1/2 oz.).
