These two large Edwardian ale glasses date from the period around 1910, originating in England. Made from clear glass, they take a traditional English country house style with a transparent finish. Each piece has a long conical bowl decorated around the upper section with wheel-engraved fruiting vine motifs depicting grapes, leaves, and tendrils. Below this decoration, the lower half of each bowl shows vertical sliced panel cuts that catch the light. The stems incorporate large capstan knops leading down to flat circular feet that rest stably on any flat surface. The complete items stand at 20 cm high in practical terms. Owners can place this glassware on a dining room sideboard top for display, or bring them out for serving beverages during family gatherings and dinner parties in a modern home.

Edwardian engraved glassware, produced between 1901 and 1910, is characterised by lead glass featuring wheel-engraved naturalistic motifs such as vines, flora, and ribbons.

These glasses were typically crafted from hand-blown lead glass or clear soda-lime glass, featuring wheel-engraved decoration and hand-cut facets around the lower section of the bowl.

Authentic examples display faint irregular wear on the underside of the base, subtle variations in hand-engraved patterns, and minor air bubbles or striations within the glass body.

Displaying antique glassware on open shelving, drinks trolleys, or sideboard displays provides a classic touch to dining spaces while capturing ambient room light.

Hand wash pieces individually in lukewarm water using mild detergent and soft cotton cloths, avoiding mechanical dishwashers and extreme temperature changes to prevent thermal shock.
