Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A set of six Edwardian crystal champagne coupes made in England c.1900 combines clear glassware with shallow circular bowls, slender stems, and circular feet. Etched fern leaf motifs decorate the outer surface of each bowl, while polished rims and smooth glass finishes define the construction. Each piece measures 11.25 cm high and 8.75 cm wide, presenting a proportional profile suitable for holding sparkling beverages. These vintage vessels suit display atop a dining room sideboard or placement on a drinks trolley during formal dinners and festive occasions in a home today. Collectors of Edwardian tableware or antique crystal can utilise them for serving champagne or dessert courses, bringing period character to table settings and glassware cabinets alike.

FAQs

Champagne coupes, also known as champagne saucers, are broad, shallow stemmed glasses designed for serving sparkling wines. In the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, naturalistic motifs such as etched ferns became widely fashionable across British lead crystal production, reflecting the widespread Victorian interest in botany.

During this period, fine stemware was handcrafted using hand-blown lead crystal, valued for its clarity, resonance, and weight. The surface decoration was typically applied using copper-wheel engraving or acid-etching techniques directly onto the glass.

Authentic pieces from around 1900 often exhibit minor structural variations, such as slight differences in stem thickness or tiny trapped air bubbles within the glass. They feature finely executed wheel-engraved or etched surface details and flat or polished pontil marks on the base.

These stemware pieces are best displayed on a wooden sideboard, brass drinks trolley, or within illuminated display cabinets to highlight the etched details. Beyond serving sparkling wine or cocktails, they can also be repurposed as dessert bowls for formal dining settings.

Antique crystal should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild liquid soap, as modern dishwashers cause clouding and thermal shock damage. Dry immediately with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth to prevent water spots and preserve the delicate engraved surfaces.
