Technical Description

Every now and then something truly exceptionally rare comes along and this is one of those cases.

A set of six matching Georgian Turquoise green flute glasses dating to c1800.

They have long conical bowls with annulated shoulder knops above narrow capstan stems. Conical feet with snapped pontils.

They can be used as Champagne flutes, wine flutes of ale glasses. We have shown one picture of a flute next to a standard sized wine glass from the same period.

In almost 25 years of dealing in period glass, we have never seen or had another set of six in this form. One glass on its own would be exceptionally rare, never mind a set of six.

Excellent, no chips, cracks, or restoration.

Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of the four King Georges in Britain (1714 to 1830), is characterised by thick lead metal, heavy pontil marks, and distinctive deep or bright colouring achieved through mineral oxides.
