This decorative plate dates from the 1920 period in the Art Nouveau style, designed by Rene Lalique. Made from moulded glass with a sepia stain finish, the piece is coloured in clear and sepia. The circular clear glass plate displays a central moulded relief depicting hunting dogs amongst foliate motifs with a sepia-stained finish, featuring three pairs of gun dogs within a stylised ivy leaf design and pairs of pheasants bordering the rim, alongside an engraved Lalique signature to the edge of the rim and a clear plastic display stand underneath. The item measures 21 cm wide. Positioned on a sideboard top, this decorative plate serves as a table centrepiece or a cabinet display item in a dining room, living room or hallway. The construction employs a circular rim with low side walls and a flat base supported by two clear plastic feet. The surface exhibits a smooth glossy texture across the transparent glass panels, contrasted by the textured matte relief sections highlighted in dark brown tones.

Early twentieth-century French art glass often features intricate relief designs produced via press-moulding techniques. Designers such as Rene Lalique introduced naturalistic and geometric motifs, frequently enhanced with coloured washes or patination to create contrast.

These items were manufactured using clear or demi-crystal glass pressed into detailed metal moulds. After cooling, sepia or coloured enamel stains were wiped into the recessed areas of the relief to highlight the intricate design details.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-engraved, moulded, or wheel-cut signatures such as R. LALIQUE. Examining the quality of the glass formulation, the crispness of the relief moulding, and expected base wear aids in identification.

A decorative glass plate can be displayed on a clear acrylic stand positioned on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or deep window sill to allow natural light to pass through and highlight the relief details.

Patinated or stained glass should be dusted softly with a microfibre cloth and cleaned sparingly with lukewarm water and mild soap. Abrasive cleaners, chemical solvents, and dishwashers must be avoided to protect the original surface wash.
