We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cranberry glass, also known as Gold Ruby glass, is a red-tinted glass produced by adding gold salts or colloidal gold to molten glass. Popularised during the Victorian period in the nineteenth century, it was frequently used for decorative tableware, scent bottles, and vanity accessories.

The glass base was mouth-blown or mould-blown using molten glass infused with gold chloride to achieve the characteristic deep pink or red shade. Gilded detailing was then applied by hand using liquid gold paint, which was fired in a low-temperature kiln to permanently fuse the gilding to the glass surface.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces often display hand-ground glass stoppers fitted individually to the neck, pontil marks on the base, and evidence of hand-applied gilding showing minor age-appropriate wear. Furthermore, the glass colour in original pieces is integrated throughout the body rather than applied as a surface coating.

A cranberry glass scent bottle serves as a decorative accent when placed on a bedside table, dressing table, or vanity tray. Grouping the piece with neutral ceramics, framed artwork, or clear glass vessels creates a balanced visual contrast while highlighting its rich colour.

Clean gilded glass gently using lukewarm water and mild soap with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding aggressive rubbing over gilded areas. Do not submerge the bottle or use abrasive chemical cleaners, as these will wear away the gold leaf detail.
