Outstanding fantastic quality garniture of three antique Japanese imari vases, having a fantastic garniture of three large antique baluster Japanese imari vases and covers decorated with baskets of flowers within panels of leaves, trees and scrolls hand painted in wonderful red, blue and white colours, surmounted by Kylin finials decorated in the traditional palette.

Imari porcelain originates from the town of Arita in the Hizen province of Japan, heavily exported to Europe via the port of Imari during the Edo period from the late 17th century onwards.

Imari pieces are crafted from fine ceramic clay, hand-painted with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron red, often highlighted with gilt details before being high-fired in kilns.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit age-related wear on the foot rim, subtle iron-spotting in the glaze, hand-potted irregularities, and traditional motifs characteristic of the Edo or Meiji periods.
