Moorcroft pottery was founded by William Moorcroft in 1913 in Burslem, England, following his earlier work at James Macintyre & Co. The company became renowned for its distinct tube-lining technique and rich, vibrant glaze colours, establishing a lasting legacy in British art pottery.

Moorcroft pieces are crafted from high-grade clay and decorated using the traditional tube-lining method, where a fine line of liquid clay outlines the design before hand-painting with metallic oxide glazes and firing in a kiln multiple times.

Authentic Moorcroft pieces typically feature factory backstamps, impressed model numbers, and hand-painted signatures or initials corresponding to the designer and painter, along with characteristic raised tube-lined outlines.

A Moorcroft vase can be displayed as a focal point on a mantlepiece, bookshelf, or side table, allowing its rich colours and intricate floral motifs to complement both contemporary minimalist and traditional spaces.

Preserve ceramic art pottery by keeping it out of direct sunlight to prevent glaze fading, dusting gently with a dry microfibre cloth, and avoiding immersion in water or the use of chemical cleaning agents.
