A superb William and Mary period walnut cabinet, presented on a later barley twist stand that complements its stature and style. The cabinet features a cushion-front top drawer, cleverly concealed within the cornice, and a pair of cupboard doors adorned with string inlay, complete with a working lock and key. Inside, a thoughtfully arranged suite of drawers, varying in size and fitted with decorative brass handles, surrounds a central cupboard, which itself houses three additional drawers. A hidden compartment discreetly tucked into the lower section adds a layer of intrigue and showcases the cabinetmaker’s ingenuity. The associated stand is fitted with two short drawers and raised on five finely carved barley twist legs, united by shaped stretchers.
