The Georgian style spans the reigns of the first four Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

Pieces from this era typically feature solid mahogany or mahogany veneers applied to secondary woods like pine or oak, joined using traditional dovetailing and mortise-and-tenon methods with hand-forged or brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, period-appropriate brass handles or escutcheons, and natural patina developed through decades of polishing and use.

Pairing historical timber furniture with minimalist walls and modern lighting creates a balanced scheme that highlights the rich grain and craftsmanship of the piece without overwhelming the room.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the wood.
