Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III demi-lune card table is a semi-circular piece of British furniture crafted during the reign of King George III (17601820). It features a hinged fold-over top designed to open into a circular surface for playing cards, often decorated with Neoclassical marquetry or veneering.

These tables were primarily constructed using dense mahogany imported from the West Indies, along with decorative veneers such as satinwood, tulipwood, and harewood for marquetry. Secondary woods like pine or oak were used for internal framing and drawer linings.

Authentic period tables display hand-cut dovetail joints, slight irregularities from hand-planing, original brass hinges with hand-cut screws, and genuine age-related patination. The rear legs often feature a gate-leg or fly-leg mechanism to support the unfolded leaf.

When folded, a demi-lune table functions effectively as a narrow console table in an entryway, hallway, or behind a sofa. Its curved silhouette softens sharp architectural lines while providing a surface for decorative lamps, floral arrangements, or trays.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber moisture. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high humidity fluctuation to prevent the marquetry veneer from lifting or cracking.
