Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large glass vase dates from the Arts and Crafts period around 1900, made in the style associated with James Powell. The vessel takes an olive green colour with a glossy finish, featuring an optically blown construction with vertical ribbing, a flared wavy rim, and a wide flared circular base. Traces of light reflections run along the vertical fluting. The piece stands 25 cm high. In a contemporary interior, this vase suits placement on a deep window sill or inside a sunlit conservatory to catch the daylight through the tinted walls. It accommodates single stems or small bouquets, or sits independently as a decorative glass accent piece on a shelf or sideboard.

FAQs

Arts and Crafts era glass features organic forms, subtle optical ribbing, and handcrafted fluid shapes that emphasize the natural qualities of molten glass rather than heavy industrial cut patterns.

Optically blown glass is created by blowing molten glass into a ribbed primary mould before fully expanding it freely, which creates internal surface reflections and vertical ribbed textures within the glass wall.

Authentic pieces from around 1900 typically feature hand-finished pontil marks on the base, slight irregular variations in wall thickness, subtle glass bubbles, and characteristic period tinting in shades such as olive green.

Place the vase where natural light can pass through to highlight the translucent green tint and optical ribbing, styling it either empty as a sculptural object or filled with seasonal foliage.

Clean antique glass by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive pads or dishwashers, and dry immediately with a soft lint-free cloth to prevent water spots.
