Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A matching pair of Georgian brass candlesticks bring traditional English Country House character to any interior setting. Each piece displays a bright brass finish with a warm aged patina across the metal surface. The design incorporates a slender fluted column stem rising from a substantial square stepped base finished with gadrooned edging. Additional details include decorative mouldings beneath the cup and a removable square nozzle resting at the top of each shaft. Both candlesticks stand upright on a dark surface and show minor surface wear appropriate for their age. Measuring 25 cm by 10 cm, the candlesticks scale well for practical everyday use. They suit placement upon a mantelpiece, sideboard, or dining table to provide ambient illumination during dinner parties or seasonal celebrations throughout the home.

FAQs

Georgian brass candlesticks typically feature Neoclassical motifs inspired by classical architecture, including fluted column shafts, square stepped bases, and gadrooned or beaded edging.

Period pieces were cast in solid brass, often using two-part vertical molds, and were hand-finished with lathe turning, chasing, and fitted with detachable square sconce nozzles for wax maintenance.

Authentic period examples generally exhibit subtle casting seams, hand-turned base undersides, unevenness from hand-polishing, and separate removable nozzles designed with period tolerances.

Positioning brass candlesticks on a dining table, mantelpiece, or sideboard alongside modern ceramics or minimal artwork creates an effective contrast between historical craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Clean surfaces using a soft microfibre cloth and a specialized mild brass polish, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals or submerging the metal in water to preserve the patination.
