This pair of Victorian brass candlesticks displays a Georgian-inspired design with warm gold metallic tones. Each piece incorporates a flared socket, a central baluster shaft with knopped stem elements, and a stepped octagonal base featuring polished flat facets and bevelled corners. The turned metal construction shows subtle surface reflections across the rounded mouldings and tapering collar sections, creating a bright reflective finish. Measuring 30 cm high, 12 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, these sturdy metal accessories suit placement on a traditional mantelpiece, a study desk, or a side table within a gentleman's library setting. They provide functional lighting and traditional decorative styling for living spaces, dining rooms, or entrance halls.

FAQs

Georgian baluster candlesticks feature turned brass central shafts with distinct knops and are set on stepped bases, reflecting 18th-century metalworking traditions.

Eighteenth and nineteenth-century brass candlesticks were typically cast in two vertical halves using sand moulds, joined with brazing, and finished on a lathe.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit casting seams inside the socket, irregular lathe turning marks, hand-finished base undersides, and natural surface wear from age.

Position a pair along a dining table centre, mantelpiece, or sideboard top to add warmth and classical proportion to a contemporary scheme.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and clean periodically using a mild metal polish or soapy water, avoiding harsh abrasive chemicals that strip patination.
