Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and never placed in a dishwasher.

Such pieces are best displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving units, or on sideboards where light can pass through the tinted glass, adding historical texture to contemporary spaces.

Authenticity is assessed through examination of the metal quality, wear patterns on the foot rim, air bubbles trapped within the glass matrix, and the presence of a rough pontil mark underneath.

These pieces were crafted using traditional glassblowing methods, incorporating mineral oxides into the glass batch to achieve the characteristic green tint, known historically as forest glass or green glass.

Eighteenth-century drinking glasses typically feature hand-blown lead glass construction, often characterised by thick stems, folded feet, and distinctive pontil marks on the base.
