Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of twelve Victorian ice plates dates from around 1860 in England. Each piece is crafted from clear lead crystal glass in a free-blown form, featuring a shallow rim, a smooth well, and a polished pontil mark on the underside. The circular dishes are displayed in three stacks of four and three vertical rows of two on white wire stands against a dark background, showing translucent transparency and glossy light reflections across their surfaces. Every plate measures 15 cm wide, providing a compact footprint for formal dining arrangements. These serving dishes sit well on a dining table or sideboard top for everyday dining or entertaining guests.

Ice plates were specialised shallow glass dishes designed during the nineteenth century for serving ice cream, sorbets, and chilled desserts at formal dining courses.

Plates from this era were typically hand-blown or free-blown using lead crystal, formed with iron pontil rods, and finished with hand-turned rims and polished bases.

Authentic period glass often displays subtle variations in thickness, minor inclusions or air bubbles within the glass batch, and a ground or polished pontil scar on the underside.

Clear crystal plates can be layered over contemporary ceramic dinner plates to add texture, or displayed upright inside glass-fronted cabinets and sideboards.

Antique crystal should be washed by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding dishwashers and sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock.
