This is a tall Georgian, English double series opaque twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot. The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 6.7 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter. The bowl is plain and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of two white enamel cords wound around a central gauze. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 8.2 cm (3.3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 17.7 cm (7.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a minute bubble in the top of the foot leaving a tiny scar that can be felt with a fingernail.
