Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian pine mule chest takes the form of a rustic farmhouse coffer finished in original dark red paint with visible surface wear and tear. The rectangular hinged lid sits above a front elevation containing two bottom drawers fitted with turned black wooden knobs, resting on bracket feet with a keyhole escutcheon centred on the top section. The timber structure measures 67 cm high, 118 cm wide and 57 cm deep. Practical storage space within makes this piece suitable for use as a blanket box, a toy box, a coffee table or for storing logs in a living room, hallway or bedroom today.

FAQs

A Georgian mule chest is an eighteenth-century storage piece featuring a top coffer section accessible via a hinged lid, situated above one or more lower drawers.

These chests were predominantly crafted from local softwoods such as pine or deal, held together with dovetail joinery and finished with hand-mixed mineral or milk paints.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct iron hardware or turned timber knobs, and natural surface wear to the original paint.

A mule chest serves as functional storage at the foot of a bed, in an entryway, or along a hallway, adding texture and historic interest to contemporary minimalist settings.

Maintain the surface by dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, liquids, or excessive wax that can soften historic paint layers.
