Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Vienna porcelain lidded urns are decorative ceramic vessels produced in the style of the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory of Vienna. Popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, these pieces feature hand-painted classical or portrait reserves set against rich ground colours and extensive gilding.

These pieces are crafted from hard-paste porcelain, decorated with coloured enamel paints, and accented with raised burnished gold gilding. Many examples incorporate detached square bases, twin scroll handles, and fitted lids topped with decorative finials.

Authenticity and origin are checked by inspecting the underglaze blue shield mark, commonly called the beehive mark, on the underside of the base. Additional indicators include hand-painted brushwork rather than printed transfers, detailed gilding, and artist signatures within the portrait panels.

A pair of decorative porcelain urns can be arranged symmetrically on a marble mantelpiece, a hallway console table, or a dining room sideboard. Placing them against a neutral backdrop highlights their deep colour palette and metallic detailing.

Dust the porcelain surface gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft artist brush. Avoid liquid detergents, abrasive chemicals, and immersion in water, as moisture and friction can wear down delicate hand-applied gilding and paintwork.
