Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency side cabinet is constructed from dark faux rosewood with brass hardware and fabric. The rectangular top is enclosed by a wraparound brass gallery rail above a pair of panelled doors fitted with vertical pleated cream fabric panels. The dark timber ground is contrasted by ormolu corner mounts at the upper corners and decorative gilt metal mounts above short turned feet. Keyhole escutcheons are positioned centrally between the meeting stiles of the doors, while delicate brass beading frames the perimeter of the cabinet body. Measuring 95 cm high, 107 cm wide and 38 cm deep, the compact proportion offers practical display and storage capacity for residential interiors. Placed in a drawing room, hallway or dining room, the cabinet provides a surface for lamps or decorative objects alongside enclosed storage behind the pleated doors.

FAQs

Regency period furniture, spanning the early 19th century, is renowned for neoclassical symmetry, rich dark woods or faux wood finishes, brass embellishments, and refined proportions inspired by ancient Greek and Roman forms.

Cabinets from this era frequently featured rosewood, mahogany, or decorative painted faux finishes, complemented by brass gallery rails, cast gilt-bronze mounts, and doors lined with pleated silk or brass wire grilles.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-turned feet, original brass work with natural oxidisation, dovetail joinery in drawer construction, and hand-painted or veneered decorative surfaces characteristic of early 19th-century craftsmanship.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to highlight its dark finish and brass detail, pairing it with contemporary artwork overhead or modern decorative objects to create a balanced, eclectic interior.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a quality beeswax sparingly, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that could damage painted graining or tarnish original brass fittings.
