Description

Stunning and rare large earthenware vase made in France by Barluet et Cie (Creil et Montereau) c 1876 and painted by G. Lemonnier.

The vase has a simple and elegant cylindrical shape and showcases superb polychrome background decoration enhanced with enamels in relief for the flowers and the pretty blue butterfly at the back. Bears a signature of a well-known artist Gabriel Lemonnier.

The vase is marked to the bottom “B&Cie” impressed in the mass, mark of the Manufacture Creil et Montereau from 1876 when Barluet became director until his death in 1884.

There’s also a half-rubbed handwritten "L'exposition universelle 1878" – meaning the vase was made for the 1878 Paris Exposition.

A rare find, excellent piece for a good collection and an amazing interior design piece!

Dimensions: height – 49 cm, diameter – 25 cm.

Condition: excellent condition, no losses or repairs, beautifully preserved item.
