A rummer is a large, heavy-stemmed drinking glass popular in Britain and Ireland during the late 18th and 19th centuries, primarily used for consuming ale, wine, or punch.

These vessels were typically hand-blown from lead glass, known for its high refractive index and heavy weight, and frequently decorated with wheel-cut or diamond-faceted patterns.

Authentic pieces often exhibit a pontil mark on the base from hand-blowing, distinct grey wear or scratching underneath, higher lead weight, and slight optical distortions within the clear glass.

They make excellent decorative accents on mantelpieces, open shelving, or sideboards, catching the light effectively while adding historic texture to modern spaces.

Antique glass should be hand washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a lint-free cloth, avoiding abrasive sponges and dishwashers entirely.
