This set of six Victorian wine glasses dates from circa 1890 and follows the Victorian and Gothic style. Each glass is composed of hand-blown cranberry glass forming a deep cranberry red bowl, mounted on a transparent clear glass stem and supported by a circular flat base. The set displays smooth glossy surfaces across the bowls and stems, with visible variations in the rounded contours of the hand-blown bowls and clear circular feet resting on a flat white surface. Measuring 11.5 cm high, 5.4 cm wide, and 5.4 cm deep, each individual glass fits standard tabletop requirements. These antique wine glasses suit placement on a sideboard top or dining table during dinner parties and family gatherings. They offer a functional drinkware option for serving wine or port while adding historical character to interior table settings in traditional and period homes.

Victorian cranberry glass is a type of red-tinted glassware created by fusing gold oxide into molten glass during manufacturing. Popularised throughout the nineteenth century in Britain, this technique creates a distinct red-to-pink hue commonly used for decorative tableware and stemware.

These glasses were hand-blown using a combination of gold chloride added to clear glass batch to achieve the red tint. The coloured glass bowl was then joined directly to a clear glass stem and circular base while still hot and workable.

Authentic Victorian cranberry glass often exhibits minor hand-blown characteristics, such as tiny air bubbles or subtle variations in glass thickness and colour intensity. Stems are typically clear glass fused directly to the coloured bowl, and bases may feature a ground pontil mark.

Display cranberry glassware on a wooden sideboard or inside a glass cabinet where natural light can pass through to highlight the red tone. Alternatively, pair them with modern neutral table settings to introduce visual contrast during formal dining.

Hand wash each glass individually in warm water using mild liquid detergent and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive materials or sudden thermal changes. Dishwashers must be avoided, as harsh chemicals and high heat can dull or damage antique glass.
