A rummer is a traditional heavy-stemmed drinking glass that became popular in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, commonly used for serving ale, wine, and spirits in homes and taverns.

These vessels were typically manufactured using lead glass or flint glass, shaped through free-blowing or mould-blowing techniques, often featuring a thick conical foot and a short, sturdy stem.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the base, minor surface imperfections such as tiny air bubbles, and a distinctive greyish or dark refractive quality typical of period lead glass.

Antique glass pieces add historical texture and reflective elegance when displayed on open shelving, within glazed cabinets, or used as standalone decorative objects on sideboards.

Antique glass should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing, extreme temperature changes, and dishwasher cycles to protect the fragile historic material.
