A Georgian glass rummer is a large, sturdy drinking vessel produced during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, primarily used for serving rum, punch, ale, or wine in homes and taverns.

These pieces were typically handblown from lead glass, featuring thick walls, a short stem, and a broad foot to provide stability and durability for heavy everyday use.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the underside of the base, subtle surface imperfections from hand-blowing, and the distinctive heavy weight associated with early lead glass formulations.

These vessels can be displayed on open shelving, utilized as floral vases for single stems, or integrated into a bar cart arrangement to add historical texture to a modern space.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges to protect the fragile surface.
