Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The case is in nicely figured walnut and is in unrestored "country house" condition.
The trunk door has a working lock and key

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring and a large boss to the arch with the makers name. It also has a subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator. It has what look like the original brass cased weights but the brass covering is somewhat distressed.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time. Judging by the number of restorers stickers to the back of the dial it has been regularly serviced.
Free local (50mls) delivery and set up. National and international delivery arranged at cost.
