Fritz Heckert Jodhpur Range Enamelled Small Glass Bowl

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a Franz Reuleaux designed enamelled and gilded glass small bowl for the Fritz Heckert glass house in Petersdorf, Germany and dating from the early 20th century, c1910. The bowl shows Islamic influence and is from the Jodhpur range.

The bowl is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 100+ years of use.

The bowl has a shallow cup-shaped bowl measuring 12.2 cm (4.9 inches) in diameter at the bowl rim, which retains some of its original gilding. The bowl has been blown in clear glass and then enamelled and gilded. The bowl is gilded and enamelled with a band of polychrome flowers enhanced by gilding. The bowl is 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration. There is some very light attrition to some of the enamelling and gilding as is to be expected of a one hundred year old piece.

It weighs in at 220 g. ( ~ 8 oz.).
