A hock glass is a traditional tall-stemmed wine glass specifically designed for Germanic white wines, such as Riesling, and gained widespread popularity throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

Authentic pieces are crafted from high-lead crystal, mouth-blown and shaped by hand before intricate geometric motifs are meticulously wheel-cut and polished by master artisans.

Authentic items feature slight irregularities from hand-blowing, crisp hand-cut facets that show micro-abrasions under magnification, and a heavy feel due to a high lead oxide content.

Displaying colored crystal on an open shelf, sideboard, or within a glass-fronted cabinet captures natural light, adding rich jewel-toned accents to a room.

Antique crystal should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and the dishwasher to prevent thermal shock and scratching.
