Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 19th-century Swedish painted linen cupboard embodies Scandinavian country style, manufactured from softwood with brass hardware and a blue paint finish. The piece stands on tapered feet and has four top drawers fitted with brass swan-neck handles, above four cupboard doors with reeded vertical panels and a distressed surface. Inside, the storage space incorporates sliding trays. The cabinet measures 113 cm high, 152 cm wide, and 52 cm deep. In a contemporary interior, this functional storage item suits practical placement within a living room, dining room, hallway, or bedroom for household linens, tableware, or everyday items. The rustic farmhouse aesthetic brings character and historic charm to residential spaces while offering ample enclosed shelving organisation behind the four lower doors and upper drawers.

FAQs

Swedish country furniture from the late 18th and 19th centuries typically features straight lines, restrained carved detailing, and painted finishes in soft shades of blue, grey, or white to maximize natural light during northern winters.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from local softwoods such as pine or fir, fitted with iron or brass hardware, and finished with layered tempera or milk paints.

Authentic pieces display natural wear patterns around handles and edges, historical joinery techniques like hand-cut dovetails, and evidence of original or layered paint under wood oxidisation.

A painted cupboard functions well as a functional storage anchor in modern dining rooms, kitchens, or hallways, pairing naturally with natural linen textiles, muted colour palettes, and raw timber flooring.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth, keep away from direct heat sources or high humidity, and avoid harsh chemical cleaners to preserve the remaining historical paint surface.
