Champagne coupes became popular in the mid-nineteenth century, designed with a shallow, wide bowl to drink sparkling wine. During the late Victorian period, glassmakers incorporated intricate wheel-cut motifs, slice cuts, and faceted stems to reflect ambient candlelight on dining tables.
