A Charles II oak duodarn or court cupboard of small proportions, with a frieze carved with foliate designs and ‘JE AE 1670’, which might suggest it was a marriage cupboard. The base has two large doors with lozenge carved upper panels. The top section has two small doors carved with foliate designs and a similarly carved central panel, with a carved frieze above with moulded cornice and a turned finial at each end.A beautiful and still fully useable duodarn, which is pretty incredible when you consider that it is now over 350 years old. The carving is very nicely executed and it has a lovely rich colour.Please note that this does not split into two pieces and is very heavy!Condition: Overall this is in very good condition, but obviously with an item of this age there are a few flaws and areas of wear.
