Early C18th Italian Tuscan walnut pedestal cupboard .
Of freestanding architectural form with a cupboard door to one side having a carved ‘rosette’ style roundel to the centre , the verso with corresponding central carving .
Raised on a heavily-moulded plinth base with carved details and mouldings . The rectangular thick walnut top having some marks and stains commensurate with age , use and purpose. The underside of the top edge with a carved ‘fluted’ detail surround.
The iron-hinged cupboard door fitted with central brass knob-pull , revealing a single-shelved interior. The edge of the door fitted with a turning wooden keeper/latch .
In ‘as found’ , fresh-to-market condition with a dry surface and pale colour and patina. The door having an historic repaired shrinkage crack or split , though strong and stable .
A bold statement, which would work well as both a side cabinet or perhaps as pedestal to display sculpture.
