The Georgian era spans the reigns of the four King Georges from 1714 to 1830, a period marked by significant advancements in glass manufacture, including the heavy use of lead crystal which allowed for deep cutting and brilliant clarity.

Rummers and other Georgian drinking vessels were typically free-blown or mold-blown from lead glass, featuring applied stems and feet that were often shaped using specialized molds, such as the distinctive square lemon squeezer bases.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as high lead content weight, pontil marks on the base where the glass was snapped from the blowing iron, wear consistent with age, and slight optical distortions or tiny air bubbles within the metal.

These historical vessels can be displayed on open shelving, within glass-fronted cabinets, or utilized on dining tables to introduce authentic historical texture and artisanal craftsmanship to contemporary settings.

Antique glass should be hand washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a soft lint-free cloth. It must never be placed in a dishwasher or exposed to sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock and cracking.
