A Pair Of Late Victorian Carlton Ware Vases

A fine pair of late Victorian pottery ‘K''ang-Hsi’ Cartlon Ware vases by Wiltshaw and Robinson, each Sevres blue vase with a domed cover with gilt knob and with Chinese style vignettes and a wide band of gilded decoration, over an inverted baluster shaped body with decorative bands around the neck and top, and richly decorated with gilded scenes in the Chinese style, with gardens, pagodas, clouds, each with raised jade green highlights, presented on a broad ebonised turned wood socle with a moulded edge. English, circa 1895.
 
Condition: Excellent, both vases are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, and the gilding on each vase is in very good condition. The socle of one has become detached, however this has not caused damage to either the vase or the base.
 
Carlton Ware was first made in 1894 by the firm of Wiltshaw and Robinson in Stoke-on-Trent, and the firm first specialised in making high quality decorative items such as these, often using Chinese designs and patter...
