Description

A very stylish late 19th century bracket clock in an ebonised case with heavy bevelled glass to all sides and top, with a pristine silvered dial and roman chapter ring below strike silent and time keeping adjustment dials, behind a brass bezel and extremely thick bevelled glass.

The eight day movement clearly visible from all sides, chimes the quarters on four blued steel gongs and strikes the hours on a separate larger gong, the Westminster chimes having a quiet sonorous quality.

The movement is signed LFS for Lorenz Furtwängler Söhne, a German maker who traded from 1836-1932, known for their high quality reliable movements of which this is an excellent example.
